.:. Sparkly! Sparkly! Sparkly! .:.

Hola!

Back again after yet another long delay! Rather than bore you with lame excuses and explanations, I thought I'd share something lighthearted and fun. Now I am probably one of the last bloggers* on the planet to have discovered and signed up to Polyvore but I joined today and created a 'set' I thought I'd share...

(click here to see where these babies came from)

...I'm currently looking for a pair of sparkly flats to wear at my wedding (17/12/11...eep!) which is why I chose this particular theme. I've actually got my heart set on wearing red sparkly flats on the day but I'm yet to find the right pair. Anyone know where I can find some?

So anyway, there you have it, my first Polyvore experiment.  Nothing revolutionary, just some good clean fun for those seasoned consumers amongst us!

Thanks for stopping by!

* I shall henceforth use the term 'blogger' loosely, given my very sporadic posting habits ;D

.:. the last month in Instagram .:.

Hola

It's sure been a while between posts. I've had major stage fright /blogging anxiety which mostly accounts for my prolonged absence. I've been lurking around in the shadows, trying to keep up with my favourite blogs whilst mustering up the courage to dive back in and share the things that I've been doing/seeing/loving/hating/creating and procrastinating over etc...

So, I thought, what better way to start the ball rolling than with a lazy quick post full of Instagram pictures. I am a little late catching on to the Instagram craze but I'm well and truly obsessed. Anyway, enough of the blah, blah, here are a few of my favourites from the past month or so:

1. Miguel soaking up the late Autumn sun
2.  Pretty pink flowers at the Botanical Gardens
 3. Obligatory feet photo featuring new $15 shoes with bows
 4. Getting crafty with pegs, washi tape and Polaroids
 5. My new dress which is my absolute favourite piece of clothing I own and possibly the best thing I ever bought
6. Spiked cactus at the Botanical Gardens
7. Post manicure, minty-blue nailpolish and kitty
 8. Tamarillo tree in my mum's ace garden
 9. Last rose before winter
 10. Succulent + kitty paw (my favourite Insta shot so far)

Geez, that wasn't so hard after all. Maybe I'll come back again soon... In the meantime thanks for stopping by and a special thanks to all you cool cats who continue to follow me, despite my sporadic and haphazard blogging style.

.:. Today I saw a sparrow try to steal a man's croissant .:.

.:. Hola .:.
It's true, as I was walking to work this morning I actually saw a sparrow try to thieve some dude's breakfast croissant off his plate, from right under his nose. It was a very brazen move from a very small creature . The croissant was approximately 6x bigger than the sparrow and it made me chuckle, loudly...

hilarious!

Did you see anything funny today?

.:. He likes it so he put a ring on it .:.

.:. Hola .:.

Yes, shock horror, I'm engaged! Moof and I have been planning to get married for a couple of years now so alas, I don't have a cheesy 'diamond hidden in my dessert' story to regale you with. We are more pragmatic than romantic by nature!  Nonetheless, we have finally made it official so I thought I'd share a picture of my lovely, shiny ring with you. I chose the ring myself and Moof lovingly presented it to me over tapas and red wine. We are getting married on 17 December and I'm currently trying not to lose my shitakke organising the whole thing. I think that my eyeballs might burst into flames if I so much as catch a whiff of another wedding blog. I suspect I should give them a rest for a couple of weeks, yes?

On a serious note though I am very happy and super duper exciting to be marrying Moof and I can't wait to have a South American surname :)

P.S- My eyebrows look like fat caterpillars in the above photo. Ha!

P.S.S- Did anyone get the 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' reference? I'm currently reading it and if you haven't already you should totz read it.

.:. Making New Friends .:.

Hola...

One of the great things about the new house Moof and I are renting is that we have made friends with the next door neighbours. More specifically, we have been befriended by a very sweet little 7 year old who loves to come to chat about her day at school and to show us her cartwheel skills on the front lawn. Just recently she knocked on our door and gave us the most lovely little present...

...a brightly coloured bunch of hand-picked flowers...
... in a handmade vase adorned with lots of pink stickers!

As a way of showing our gratitude for this little unexpected gift, I invited our little friend over on a sunny Saturday afternoon to bake some cupcakes...

...we had oodles of fun with piping bags and colourful icing...
...and of course, lots and lots of sprinkles!!

We had such a great day we even ended up digging out my old lego blocks...yep and I was totally exhausted by the end of the day. How about you? Do you have friendly neighbours? Ever make baked goods with them? Do tell!

.:. A Book a Month .:.

Hola...

Oops, it's been a while since posts again, hasn't it? It has taken me quite a while to wind down and recover from the crazy festive season, so I have been in semi-hibernation mode for the last month!

During my self-imposed 'mini break' from the world I have found myself with plenty of time to sit and reflect on the year that was 2010. I'm probably coming to the 'New Year's Resolutions' blog post party a little late in the piece but I thought I'd share my hopes and goals for 2011 none the less.

.:. Resolution #1- Read at least one book every month .:.

Well I have to say that I am off to a cracking start with this one, as I can (smugly) report that for the month of January I smashed through a whopping 3 books. Yep, I'm going Gangbusters kids! Now, the reasoning behind this particular resolution is that, whilst I love reading, I tend to do it rather sporadically. Not only am I inconsistent with my reading I am also very selective and have tended to limit book choices to Non-Fiction and Memoirs. So I went crazy and read 2 fiction books (I then quickly rewarded myself with a memoir just for good measure). Here are the books I read in January...

I enjoyed all 3 of these books but I'd have to say that 'Room' by Emma Donoghue was my favourite. As soon as I finished it I felt slightly melancholy, like I had somehow befriended the characters in the book and they had deserted me unceremoniously. It was a bit bizarre. Have you ever felt the same after finishing a book? Have you read these books? Did you like them or did you hate them? Do tell!

Thanks for stopping by.

.:. (A Belated) Feliz Navidad .:.

Hola...

Here are a few images from my Christmas this year (well I guess it's actually 'last year' now, but my brain hasn't caught up to 2011 just yet)...

This Christmas Moof and I hosted family Lunch at our house for the first time ever. It was pretty stressful and (bleep) loads of work but it turned out to be a really laid back and enjoyable day. It also made me feel very grown-up! How was your Christmas? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

.:. Does absence make the heart grow fonder? .:.

Hola...

So, it's been a little over 3 months since I posted on this here blog...yikes! There have been a few times throughout my blogging hiatus that I wanted to post but didn't follow through because I was either too busy, too exhausted or I was suffering from 'stage' fright. A lot has transpired in the last 3 months, including that Moof and I have moved house. Yes, we are now officially Suburbanites! We have moved every year since we shacked up in 2004, and we finally got sick of living in close proximity to the city with its high rent, lack of car parking and dog-kennel-sized apartments. Our new house is big and old and bright and spacious and best of all it actually has a garden! So to kick start my tentative return to blogland here are some pictures I took recently in our new garden, I hope you enjoy them!

Oh, and in case you are interested, I took all these photos with my new camera which Moof bought me for my birthday (back in September). It's a Samsung EX1 and it's super cool but I need to read the instructions because I have only utilised the automatic setting so far...lazy huh? Anyway, there you have it...Thanks for stopping by!

.:. Impromptu Laksa Review .:.

Hola!

On Thursday last week, my good friend T-dog and I stayed back at work a little later than usual(blergh!). As Moof wasn't going to be home for dinner that night I suggested to T-dog that we grab dinner before retreating to our respective habitats. So we did what all good iPhone-toting tossers do these days and jumped on the 'Urbanspoon' app to find a suitable eating hole. We chose Malaysian as the flavour of the night which saw us schlepping our way down Elizabeth Street to 'Big Coconut House'. It turned out to be well worth the schlepping, because the food was yummo.
I'd describe the place as a Malaysian style diner of sorts. It's a bustling, order and pay at the counter, sticky tabled, friendly kinda joint. Here are a couple of dodgy phone photos of the Vegetarian Laksa I had which was accompanied by an Iced Lychee drink.

You may have noticed the sneaky fishcake slices in my 'Vegetarian' Laksa...I couldn't help myself, I'm a sucker for those rubbery, ocean scented strips of goodness!

Anyway, I digress, the Laksa was pretty tasty. I loved the oily, caramelised eggplant and the fresh baby spinach which balanced out the coconutty richness . The Iced Lychee drink was A-M-A-ZING, slightly sweet and complete with yummy canned Lychees and fresh, crunchy ice. It was so refreshing.

I didn't take any photos of T-dog's meal, mainly because he ordered some pork monstrosity (he liked it). Actually there was so much meat on the menu, pretty much the only vegetarian option was the Laksa.  T-dog ordered this weird coconut and Jam Toast with butter. It looked really odd but he said it rocked his world.

The reason I wanted to share this random culinary adventure is because it really made my week. Usually on a work night I'll drag myself home, hop into my pyjamas and collapse on the couch until Moof nudges me awake and I shuffle wearily off to bed. Then of course I'm up again the next day to repeat the same, tired routine. So, I've decided that I'm going to try and get out more during the week just to break out of the Monday to Friday monotony. I'll try and post about my weekday adventures, that way I will have something to remind me to mix up my boring routines from time to time! How about you? Do you get out on 'school nights'? What fun adventures have you had during the week?

Thanks for stopping by!
