.:. Remember the 90's? .:.

...I do! I think I need to make a mix CD of all my favourite 90's songs, want one?

.:. I'm no Master Chef but my scones "rock" .:.

I've finally succeeded at making a decent batch of scones. Up until a few weeks ago, every time I tried to make them they came out so flat and so hard you could use them as a Frisbee and have someones eye out. So, I typed "why are my scones like rocks" into Google and I learnt exactly what I was doing wrong. Here is my recipe, along with the tips I picked up from the interwebs:

2 Cups self-raising flour
1 Tbsp butter (softened)
2/4 cup milk
1/4 cup cream
1 tsp sugar

-Preheat oven to very hot (220˚c for conventional oven)-
-Sift flour, add sugar-
-Use fingers to rub in butter to achieve fine breadcrumb texture-
-Pour in milk and cream-
-Form mixture into soft dough being very gentle-
-Turn on to floured board and press out dough gently to 2cm thick-
-Use cutter or a glass to cut out scones-
-Place scones closely together on flat baking tray-
-Bake for 10-12 minutes-

-Don't use a rolling pin to roll out the dough-
-Don't knead the dough, just roughly form it-
-Use a bit of cream in your recipe-
-Place them on the tray side-by-side so they're touching-
-Bake them in a very hot oven for a short time-

Voila! There you have it, a recipe for scones that won't break a window if you throw them at one (just sayin'...). For the record, I ate like 6 scones with masses of jam and cream from the batch in the above photo. Yep, I'm greedy and kinda on the chunky side :)

.:. A home for Silverado .:.

A few months back I got my first laptop, it's a 13" MacBook Pro which I named 'Silverado' and it's all sorts of awesome. Prior to getting my own, Moof and I were sharing his trusty little white MacBook, 'Blanca', which we fought over constantly. Now that I have my own I want to find a case/cover for it so I can take it out and about with me. What do you think of these ones?...

I think they are all super cool and frankly I would like to buy them all! But that would just be silly, so I would be very grateful if you would be so kind as to help me choose one. What do you say?

.:. I'm ba-aaaack! .:.

Yikes, it's been over a month since I posted anything (hangs head in shame)and there are a number of reasons for this. Firstly, my Internet connection has been and continues to be very unreliable. Secondly, I have been trying to change the style of my blog; playing with templates and colours etc. I'm still mucking around with it so bear with me and please feel free to offer suggestions! Anyway, the third and final reason for my absence is that I got shy and found myself hiding away in the shadows of blogland...Yep, that's right folks, I got stage blog fright! But I'm back with a renewed sense of 'web confidence' and I'm looking forward to sharing the love with anyone who stumbles upon my little corner of these here interwebs. So without further ado, here is a few pics from my first ever weekend away in Daylesford which I shared with 3 awesome broads:

1. Wine, cheese and good company...salut!
2. Lunch by an open fire
3. Pimm's and Lemonade
4. Champagne, pyjamas and slippers following a deep tissue massage <3

5. Tarot reading: went in skeptical, came out perplexed....
 6. An awkward photo opportunity and a walk around the lake(note friend on the left wearing woollen booties as gloves)
7. Finding faces in the trees
8. A dodgy market stall selling 'Vintage Bottles' which on closer inspection turned out to be 'Dolmio bottles with coffee-dipped vintage label printouts'... I wonder how many people got stooged?

Do you have any favourite destinations for long weekends away? Do share! Thanks for stopping by and thank you to my lovely followers for sticking around :)
